Jim Harris

The pulpit minister for the Stringtown Road congregtion is Jim Harris.  He has been preaching for the Stringtown congregation since June of 2003.

Jim is a 1984 graduate of Abilene Christian University with a master's degree in Ministry and Evangelism.  He has written several books, including "An Evaluation of Ministerial Education in Schools of Preaching" (Star, 1984), "Recover the Dream - A Call to Mainstream Churches of Christ" (Star, 1996), "The Holy Spirit" (Horizon, 1995), "His - Lock, Stock, and Barrel - A History of the Freetown Road Church of Christ" (Horizon, 1999),  "The First Church of Christ in Grand Prairie" (Horizon, 2000), and "A History of the Church of Christ in Medina" (Horizon, 2003, revised 2007).  He also holds a bachelor's degree from ACU in Ministry and Evangelism and an Associate's Degree from Bakersfield College.  He has pursued a postgraduate degree in Sociology of Religion from the University of Texas at Arlington and has done additional study at Texas Tech and at Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas.

Jim has been in ministry since 1978.  Congregations he has served include:
Alhambra Church of Christ - Alhambra, California (youth minister);
Highland Church of Christ - Bakersfield, California;
Gunnison Church of Christ - Gunnison, Colorado; 
Freetown Road Church of Christ - Grand Prairie, Texas;
Stringtown Road Church of Christ - Medina, Texas.

He and his wife, LeLani, have three children.  Shannon is an executive office assistant in the Government Relations Office of United Airlines in Washington, DC.  Aaron is a graduate of Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and he is planning to be a schoolteacher in Medieval Languages.  Heath is attending the Medina Public Schools and will graduate in 2008.
